Is there a class for my modified healey

Im restoring a 56 AH that was raced at New England Speed way in the early 70's. It's v8 powered with a mustang II front suspension and corvette c4 rear suspension. I've also installed a five speed. The Healey will require small fender flairs. Is there a racing club for me and my car?

If the car has true history "back in the day", the guys at VRG might let you run it.
It will help if you have some old photos or old race documents about the car.
The modern Mustang II front-end will not thrill them, but you may be able to justify it as a "safety update".

If they do let you run, they may consider your car a "special" like the various Devins and Ambros that already run in the club. VRG is a great club. If you click on "My Race Events" at the bottom of this message, you'll see examples of VRG events.

thanks, I did get vintage pics but none of race day, also it was set up for the drag strip when I bought it. is there some modified class.
 
Vintage clubs do not (typically) offer a "modified" group. There just aren't enough cars like this to justify a separate run-group at an event.
Generally, the bigger engine cars (like your's) would go in Big-Bore.
Small engined modifieds (like some of the old Crosley Specials) would go in Small Bore.

Along with these two classes there usually a Pre-War and Open Wheel class. That's it.

Keep in mind that most vintage races are just for fun and there's no points or even "winning".........so classes don't really matter.
VRG does not award trophies or have any sort of championship. You just go out there and race with guys who are similar in terms of lap times. I've had some very memorable "mid-pack" races. Great fun and not real serious.
 
I think Niel is right on all accounts. Here on the West Coast I think you would have a tougher time convincing the powers at be to let you in any of the vintage events that only allow "period" modifications that were offered or used by the manufacture in the day.

That said, there was a V-8 big Healey that was allowed in run in the 2005 American/Australian Healey Challenge. The owner did have some period race photos and documentation. It didn't matter, he ended up running mid-pack anyway.
