EGR valve on '79 cali midget 1500cc.... The air tube that comes out of the side of the housing has a braided white insulation over it. Is that asbestos?
 
I just removed my EGR valve when I put on my Weber conversion. Surprisingly my EGR valve held up really well over the years and the braided jacket was like new. Mine was not asbestos. It was a heavy fiber that is braided to act as an insulator.
