Just a quick question:

I'm re-installing my springs, and both front mount plates have two steel spacers about 1/4 to 3/8" (from what I can remember)thick that separate the mount plate from the bottom of the car...

Is that stock for the car?

Interesting...is there any advantage/disadvantage to leaving them off or keeping them in place?
 
are you talking about front or rear? rear has the spacers from the factory. I took mine out, dearched the springs (chrome bumper conversion) and then reinserted them cause I'm a big guy

Rear (suspension). They sit between the bracket where the front end of the leaf spring mounts and the body of the car. They looked somewhat hastily made, so I wasn't sure if they were added or good 'ol 1970's BL manufacturing...
 
that would be good 'ol BL manufacturing - part of making the car sit higher for crash regulations and the added weight of rubber bumpers
 
I pulled mine out of the rear after adding spacers to the front.
My front is still a little lower than the back, and it's noticeable when there are two big guys sitting in the car - I get a bit of tire rubbing when turning tight. I'm considering raising the front back up a little as I also installed a set of Sprite coil springs which are shorter and softer than the 1500 Midget coils.

that's why I put the spacers back - and I also have 1275 springs on the front

I should have specified that my tire rubbing is only in the front.

The 1500 springs in the rear keep it nice and high back there no matter what.

The softer shorter springs up front along with the spacers up front lowered the front too much, I may end up taking the spacers out (from the front) altogether.

The spacers from the rear are gone for good! After removing that rear rubber bumper the back was sitting pretty high.
