IRS swingarm alignment shims

I did a search and didn't find an answer to this. I just installed the Goodparts adjustable trailing arm brackets and in putting the shims back in that were already there previously and was wondering how many is too many? One side I had to put 5 shims on the inside and 4 shims on the outside, it seems that is a huge "stack". I was barely able to get the nyloc nuts into the plastic. The other side hade 3 and 2. Is up to 5 shims normal?

I would take a couple out of the 5 and 4 side then measure for center to center between the wheels and see if they are the same. If the same you are ready for the alignment of all four wheels.

Both of my TR6s have had 2 and 3 on both sides. I don't recall and the car is not handy to tell you which side gets 2 and which one 3.
