I am happy to be able to participate in this forum, even though I will very likely be a spotty visitor. This is due to my job and family life, which both keep me very very busy.
In my professional life I am a 60 to 70 hour per week executive with engineering background working in the industrial laser industry. My company is the world market leader for high power industrial lasers.
In my personal life I am first and foremost father to three kids (2, 4 and 6) and in the remaining minutes of the week I try to be a good husband.
This all leaves very little time for my Healey, a 1962 3000 MkII tricarb BN7 center shift (one of maybe 100 built). It is a beautiful black car with red interior that was restored a Tom Kovacs’ company Fourintune.
I now live in Germany where I had the car shipped after the restoration. Unfortunately, I was not able to drive it much, because something went wrong with the engine that could have been corrected with some effort. Since I had poor advise and even poorer craftsmanship in the beginning here in Germany at the shop I first went to, the whole thing escalated and led to me having the engine rebuilt completely at another shop.
The car is almost ready now – after 2 years at Fourintune and 2 more years trying to get the engine right in Germany – and I am looking forward to hopefully a few drives this fall.
Before the current Healey I had a 1961 BT7 in the US. The story of this car was the story of a novice buying a classic and making all the mistakes one can make. Like: seeing the car and wanting it right now and consequentially being blind to the thing being a complete disaster. I ended up having to sell the car at a 10k loss because the chassis was so badly bent that I could never have gotten a license plate for it in Germany, according to the regulations here. But that is history.
I am looking forward to participating in this forum, to learning much and maybe being able to help out once in a while.
