Hello, my name is Chris, username christopherj, I own a '77
Midget that has been in storage for approx. seventeen years.
I have been through the hydraulic clutch and brakes with
great success; however, the original Lucas EID is giving me
fits. I have cranked the engine twice with great difficulty.
My Chiltons' manual has been some help; likewise, the catalogues by Moss Motors and Victoria British LTD suggest
aftermarket electronic ignition units. I would prefer to
keep this vehicle oem as possible. I would really appreciate
any comments or suggestions on this topic. By the way, last
week when I was vacationing(or as the Brits would call on
holiday) on Jeckyl island or maybe St. Simon's island off
the coast of Georgia, USA, I saw a really cool Lotus. I
have not seen one of those since I was down in Tampa, Fla.,
a few years back.

Hi Chris!

You might want to read through the "Pertronix ignition question" forum, as it discussed what appears to be a popular ignition option.

Hello Chris,

Welcome to the forum. It sounds as though you are enthusiastic about bringing the Midget back to life. I am currently trying to resurrect a 1975 Jaguar XJ6 Coupe and am finding it both frustating and fun. The members of this forum are very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help with any matter you may come up against. They have been very kind in answering my questions when I come up against something new. I no longer have an MG, but I try to read all the forums and contribute if I feel that I have something to add to a thread. I hope you enjoy visiting the forum as much as I have and hope as well that your project goes smoothly.

Regards,

Brian

Aloha Chris,

Welcome to the forum. I wish you luck and enjoyment in resurrecting your MG. I'm getting ready to do major repairs and restoration to my MG that I've owned for 32 years and drive regularly. Time has taken its toll on the wooden coachwork framing so I'm replacing or repairing most of that. I think you will find the forum and excellent source of information, help and encouragement.

Safety Fast,
Dave
