Greetings all!
Just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi. Just got my first B - a '76 Roadster - and am looking forward to the joy and torment of restoring it. I threw some quick pix of it up online - https://hometown.aol.com/rtr52nd/mgb.htm I live in NYC, and my car is garaged about a hundred miles away. With my schedule, work on the car will be sporadic at best, so I'm sure my posts will come in intermitant spurts. However, I've already followed a couple of threads that I know will be helpful.
Have a great day, and know that driving season (for those of us who have seasons) will be here soon!

Welcome to our humble forum, Rob. You are in the right place - lots of knowledgable folks here (I'm not one of them, sadly). Hope wee see lots of you here and best of luck with the B - looks like a worthy project.

Welcome to the forum!

Nice little site you have and very well said story.. Have fun with the car.. Try to get it on the road and insured first before you rip it apart for restoration... Many projects have been given up on due to lack of interest because things were taking too long. Sounds like you may be facing that if you are not careful..

Welcome to the Forum, Rob!
Nice story and pics...looks like a lot of "potential" there! Whatever happened to the 74 1/2? I saw the '73 and your 76...one CB and one RB...a nice mix! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

good luck!

Hi Rob - welcome to the forum. I bought my 76B last summer, originally damask red (but sadly repainted to black by the DPO). It's a stock roadster, original engine but with Weber carb; everything works! However, all the emissions equipment fell off soon after I took possession <ha ha>.

I enjoyed your intro and photo page too. The sound advice above (particularly getting it running before restoration) rings strong in my mind. I'm still 'not' running (75 B) and have things in a combination of pieces. I'm rethinking the full restore and perhaps will save a few dollar to get her running before the desire is lost. Excellent advice once again TypeRboy.

Welcome Rob.
That car looks like it could a decent "driver" with a moderate amount of work.
Don't make yourself crazy getting every last nut and bolt *perfect*.
(Well, OK...you can. But then you'll have to move to the Austin Healey Forum /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif)

Anyway, as long as it has safe brakes and so forth, go out and drive it!
Always good to have another east-coast person on-board (I'm about 50 miles east of The Apple).
Enjoyed your website too.

Welcome to the form Rob. Great web site you have will follow your progress. Regards John. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Great story, Rob, and welcome to the Forum!

I restored my TR3 in much the same way, bit by bit, in my garage. It took about three years, working an occasional evening, and whenever I could take a day off.

You'd think I'd learn, but now I'm doing an MGB for my wife (yeah, right!). Hope to finish it by early to mid spring.

Stay in touch.

Mickey

Welcome Rob! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The people here are very helpful and friendly!
I wish you luck with your restoration.
I'm restoring a '75 B, that used to be Damask Red.

Anyhow,..hope the process goes as smoothly as possible for you!

Only on an MG board can a right wing conservative break bread with someone who bookmarks MoveOn /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. MG's bring us all together!

Thanks for the good words, everone! And thank you TypeRBoy (and all those who echoed it) for the advice. I plan to make this a driving restoration /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif - maybe my next one will be a frame-off.
Thanks again, and I look forward to splitting time between here and the garage!
