Well, the body and frame go off to the stripper on Tuesday, so we have a busy weekend ahead. Only the two youngest are in town, but they are truly amazing workers, I think McKenna would live in the car if her parents would allow it. I'll put a few photos up over the weekend.

Update from Team Isetta. We received our newly bored, sleeved and rebuilt wheel and master cylinders today, a most generous donation from Bill Rogers (isettadocs), they are now the sole occupants of the “new or rebuilt” shelf in our shop. Mark and McKenna (my two youngest team members) and I will trailer the body and frame down to Sacramento tomorrow morning for an appointment with the stripper. A neighbor loaned us a small professional bead blaster that does an incredible job on smaller parts like leaf springs, brake drums, and heater parts. It is destined to become our most appreciated tool, at least for the next two months. I’ll try to put up some photos up over the weekend. Thanks for all the encouragement,
P.S. We are hoping to find a parts supplier that can give us a small “consideration” on our ever-growing list of wants. Any suggestions who should we contact first?
I thought I would post a brief update on the state of the Team Isetta car. It sits forlornly in our shop awaiting the return of its kids from various river excursions and last minute vacations. In the two weeks before school resumes we hope to finish rebuilding the chain case and start on re-lining our brake shoes. The frame and all suspension parts have been freshly painted, and the stripped body waits on the return of The Tin Man who, as we write this, is building a new prototype wind turbine in India. The body & painting classes will probably run eight to ten weeks.
Our dilemma surrounding the OEM style sound deadening material has come to a peaceful conclusion. After contacting all the micro car and BMW specialists we could find, we came up with only “improved” substitute products like Dynamat, 'Ice Dam' roofing products, etc. Trying to stick as close as we can to original, we have located a supplier of felt that matches the density and weight of the original, and are building a jig to press the ‘quilted’ pattern onto the newly tarred material as we install. This, being several months off, will probably go through a number of incarnations before we are all satisfied with the results. We’ll post photos of the finished product. All in all, looking at a July 2008 finish date, things are going swimmingly.
