Interior Wood

Hello All,
savewave.gif

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good source for the wood pieces that go in the interior of a Big Healey 2-seater? I have a 1958 BN6 that I am doing a ground up on and unfortunately, all the wood rotted away long ago

. Any ideas on what is a resonable price to pay for a set of these pieces? If not available has anyone ever made their own

? Anyone have patterns?

As always, much thanks,

Paul

Hi All,
Just wanted to put this back at the top of the list. It didn't seem to be getting any attention down below all the yellow folders

. Surely, someone out there knows if there are suppliers for the wooden pieces that go around the back of the cockpit and rear wheel arches. My car is a 2-seater which has different pieces than the 4 seat cars. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Paul,

I'm not sure which wood you are asking about. If it is the thin plywood backing pieces for the upholstery, these pieces normally come with the upholstery kits. Try https://www.heritagetrim.com/ Heritage supplies the panels already covered in their upholstery kits. They may supply the panels separately. I think that Moss Motors supplies the vinyl & wood separately for you to finish when you use their kits.

If you are not talking about the trim panels I don't know.

I recommend you get hold of a copy of the AH Spares parts book. www.ahspares.co.uk

They stock almost all parts for Healey's and even if you don't want to order from the UK, (and do get a quote from them before anyone else!)
it will give you a good idea of what you are after.
The only bits of wood I'm aware of in a BN6 are the packing pieces surrounding the hood(roof) seating and the seat supports and rear backrest.

Are you sure there ment to be there?....

Cheers

Alan

Hi Paul,

Moss has interior kits with the panels you are describing. For the BJ7 anyway, the outer door panels were complete (plywood covered with thin foam and vinyl) but the quarter panels and inside door panels were seperate requiring some cutting, gluing, etc.) I've heard the Heritage panels come complete but sell at a higher price (and many say the quality is worth it).

If you are looking for other wood parts I would check with British Car Specialists:

Cheers,
John
