Interior Options on the '66 B

LBC Fans,

As I have mentioned, I gave my wife the '66 B and I am in the process of restoring/rebuilding it....

She has determined that she wants to paint it the period correct Iris Blue, much to my shagrin. I have been scouring the web to see what color interiors were available for the Iris Blue '66 MGB.... to no avail....

Although a Blue/white piping interior will look good I just wanted to know if that was an option... Advice will be appreciated.

And while I am at it, anyone know what color carpeting was available...

Thanks...

The options for the interior of an Iris Blue '66 MGB were: Black seats with Pale Blue piping or Blue seats with Pale Blue piping....black seats had black carpet; blue seats had blue carpet....the door waist rale was the piping color...blue seats had blue door seals...panels matched the seats......the top was either blue or black....blue seated cars got a blue tonneau.

Tony,

As usual... A wealth of knowledge...

As said earlier...To me, if it's not Black, Red, or BRG, 'tisn't a B.. But then it's HER car...

Thanks for the info...

I have a brand new (non Moss, as in el cheapo)carpet kit, black... eBay here I come....

Hey Steve....

Nice to hear from you...

Quote:]Ron, you need to pick up a copy of Original MGB. It's all in there! [/QUOTE]

I had not expected to need said guide since I was immersed in the completion of my A and own a myriad of MGA reference manuals .... Which, by the way, could have been completely and absolutely finish with the $$$ I have just spent on the B.....

I will order a copy when I can find a source.... Moss has a plethora of reference manuals but, unless under a different title, does not offer that title. Any suggestions??

Yep, Tony's secret...hehehe

Oh, Moss #211-355.

Tony,

As my father always told me... 'You don't need to know everything... you just need to know where to find the answer..'

Great guy, my Dad, much missed....

Yep, they taught us alot!

Lemme know if you need to order it.

Oh, I want an Iris Blue MGB myself!! RHD w/wide whitewalls!!

Tony,

The 'guy' in me is reluctant to admit that an Iris Blue MGB is nice looking..... But...... :smirk:

And, yes, they taught us quite a bit... I can only hope that when I am gone my son will say the same...

I know....I've got one of the original Iris Blue MGB ads hanging over my computer out in the garage...its of the first MGB though, not a '66...touts all the great things about an MGB over an MGA....but an absolutely stunning car!

Tony,

I found the PPG number (12235) for the Iris Blue paint, found out where I can buy the paint locally, and have started cleaning the engine compartment in preparation for painting...

For a job (rebuilding the engine) that I had expected to take a week or two is now wandering dangerously into months... :wall:

AND I gotta watch out for the 'just as well' syndrome... :smirk:

But think how she'll reward you when its finished!!!

Tony,

You are likely spot on....

Although, the way my wife changes her mind... I think I will buy a SMALL can of Iris Blue.... Just in case... :smirk:

Suffice it to say, the car now has a freshly rebuild engine/head/tranny ready to install, rebuilt suspension, and a very clean, albeit multi-colored, engine compartment... which is a major improvement from sitting in the driveway, wanting for attention...

I think my A is now getting jealous for the time that I am lavishing on the B....
