Interesting Marketing Survey for the New MG

Offline
As posted by RMcD up on the MG Car Company section... aimed at US citizens...

Dear MG Enthusiasts,
Please assist us by participating in a short survey to understand the potential for returning the MG brand to the US market. We would like to get your input on current brand perceptions, appropriate product pricing, and desirable product attributes.

The survey can be accessed through the following URL:

Looks interesting. Maybe there are too many people on there right now, its moving slow. Hopefully not a sign of things to come!

Like most surveys some of the questions had no right answer present.

Now that was fun......hehe

did anyone fill out the Comments about MG bit at the end?

Just finished....some interesting questions....Although doubtful, I hope they do make a model for sale over here.

I did comments, told em to keep it simple, well designed, and no plastic.

"What vehicle do you currently own?"......who owns ONE vehicle? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I commented "please do not build a four door sedan"

Told them I owned a pre war MG whoa!!!!

I told them that new MGs haven't been sold in the US since 1980. So, they have to put a lot of effort into making MG known to the generations of car buyers out there that do not know the MG marque, and that completely relying on classic MG enthusiasts to bring MG back is a recipe for disaster.

Why's that rob? I think they need to redeux the RV8 myself. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Or even a redesign of the MGB. If they brought it in well under the price of a miata, kept it simple with high build quality, they'd have their own market. I'm thinking lower priced than solstice too. Who needs A/C, and satnav, and all the other bells and whistles that modern cars have. It just needs 2 seats, a fold-down top, a simple 100hp or so engine, a 5 speed transmission, tires and brakes. Thats it.

Kenny, while may agree with ya on those points and that for them to make a car for us and what we'd like to see, I believe that we (the classic MG enthusiast) alone would not be enough to keep any new MG in the market place for very long. To really survive and keeping going through the years, the car has to appeal to more than just us, and represent a good value to those interested in puchasing it. Not only that, but people outside of the enthusiast circles need to know that it's out there.

I mean, just look at how many people there are out there that have no clue what an MG is or ever was. For a new MG to make it and survive, it has to make itself known to the public and appeal to them and be a good value in some form or another.

A good comparison would be the BMW Mini. They took an old classic an put a new spin on it to appeal to yuppies. I am sure the old Mini owners hate it.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif I wanted an old mini before the prices went through the roof.

"I mean, just look at how many people there are out there that have no clue what an MG"

Ha, you ought to drive a Bugeye, everyone likes it but no one knows what it is.

I kind of like it that way.

me too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I completed the survey - we'll see
