New ways of looking at things:

(Reminds me a bit of the GE "new ideas can be scary and uncomfortable" ad.)

I live fairly close to the old ~Bell Labs site in Murray Hill~.

A lot of folks called that "America's Idea Factory" back in the day. Maybe the first "think tank".
Many of my current and past colleagues and bosses (including Bob, my office mate of 18 years) came out of Bell Labs/Murray Hill.

Bob said that there was an "anything goes" attitude at this place. One guy he worked with used to walk around backwards to try to inspire others. Bob used to go outside and fly RC planes while he was at work for "research purposes" ;)

I'm sure it was a fun place to work.

One of my brothers currently works for the think tank of a major company in America. He says it's not as "free form" as places like Murray Hill but still really interesting and fun to go to work.

My prediction is that landfills will be the gold mines of the near future. I wish I could buy a few.
