I have an insurance question that maybe there is an insurance pro that can help with. I've had all my insurance with a highly rated and reasonably priced company for several years. I am very happy with them. The problem is the agency that sold me the policy has merged with a local bank, and evidently the company won't do business with insurance companys affiliated with banks, so my previous agent no longer represents them. Do I find another agent representing that company, there are several locally, and transfer my business to them? I really don't want to go with the companys my agent has suggested as they have had some problems according to Consumer Reports and JD Powers. Is it possible to just move the accounts, car and homeowner, to a different agent?

To me it would depend on whether I liked the insurance company or the agent better. Which has done the most for you? If you have been with the company a while, you could lose some perks by changing. Unless there is some close relationship with the agent, I would lean toward staying with an insurer I really like and find a new agent. JMHO, of course.

Chuck...why won't the agent do business with banks? That answer might help you make a decision.
the agent is now the bank Tony, by doing the merge they lost the company, and Im not sure I trust the people they now represent. I know my company is good, when we had a tornado come thru a couple of years ago they were at my buddie's house less than 8 hours later with the first of many checks.

kinda answers your question...I'd call the company & ask where the nearest independent agent was located.
