Hey everyone. My generator needed to be rebuilt so I removed it about a month ago. I just had it rebuilt this week and am now re-installing it. I've got it connected to the bracket with the two bolts in. I am now working on the adjusting link. I didn't have to touch the pillar when I removed the generator, so it is still in. I am now working on the bolt that connects the link to the generator. I am positive I kept all the parts together, but all I have is a bolt and a locking washer for that. I don't remember if a nut and washer went on the other side of this bolt. Does anyone know? I have it in, and there is not much room at all to get a nut on the other side of the bolt. Also, any recoomendations on finishing this? It's pretty tough given the small amount of room and the generators weight to get the belt tension right and everything tightened up. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi Brandon,
If the generator ear is tapped (internally threaded) you can use a bolt without the nut. If, as I suspect, the ear is not threaded, the only way is to put a nut on the bolt. Use a broomstick or some such to lever the generator up while you tighten the bolts. Generator bearings don't like to have the belt too tight.

Actually, it was internally threaded so I guess a nut isn't necessary. I was thinking about some sort of lever to lift the generator, I'll have to try that.

Try stubby rachet box wrenches. About 4 inches long total. Even work on the air cleaners. I think Healey hired 6 year olds with small hands to manufactor our cars.
