TR2/3/3A Installing front fenders on TR3 from TRF

Hi all,

Trying to install replacement front fenders on a TR3B from The Roadster Factory. It seems to me that in order to get the fender in, it has to slide in from the side (towards the center of the car) rather than front to rear. In order to accomplish this it seems you have to trim about 4" of the inner vertical lip of the rear channel so it can slide in the gap sideways. I'll take pictures later, but thought someone would be very familiar with this and be able to verify.

thx.

My post 60k fender channel starts 6" from the rear of the top of fender.
I slide the fener to th rear, the little vertical lip going through a small notch in bulkhead. Then lift up fender while you guide the vertical mounting flange over the mounting plate on body.
interested how the rest fits for you.

Yes but the channel end has a fold that often does not like to go under the scuttle at the point where the inner wing is welded to the firewall. Mine needs a lot of tweaking on one side to get that lip in, after that it slides right back.
I'd also be interested in the rest. I've heard rumors about the aftermarket fenders but have never seen them.

Mornin, Do you have all the wires in and hooked up?

It goes under the scuttle fine. I cant slide it all the way in because it runs into the vertical flange and I cant get it up and over

I'm in Charlotte and willing to give and extra hand if you need one. PM me if I can help.

Mine also hits that flange when sliding the fender to the rear.thats when I lift the bottom of fender up until your other hand feels the the fender mounting flange go over the body mount. It has to lift to about 60 +
degrees on mine.

Yep. That's how I remember it. Acutally I think you slide the lip under the edge of the scuttle while holding the bottom out as mentioned, then you can slide it back and forth to mate up to the flange.

So how do they fit?

Here's a picture of what I think is the pivotal point of the installation. After you find this point, it falls together.
