TR6 Installing Flex Coupling for steering TR6

I am informed that to install this flex coupling you must compress it, so that the holes line up with the adapter and the steering shaft.
Is this so?
It is larger in diameter and the holes won't align.

Yes, just squeeze it in the vise a little to line it up.

When I did mine, I had a heck of a time getting continuity through the horn grounding wires. I checked as I went along each flex coupler on the steering shaft. I think a thin film of rubber covered the spot when the ground wires bolt on. So check yours BEFORE putting it back in the car.

That seems to be the method of choice at our Triumph club.

Guess it depends on whether you're working with the shaft still in the car. But the end result is the same!
