Installing a capet kit...

I'm going to install a carpet kit next week and was wondering if you guys and gals have any padding or insulation that you are particularly fond of. Also, has anyone used any kind of rust inhibitor on the floor boards? Thanks.

Can't reccomend any padding, but I would reccomend POR 15 for painting the floorboards. that stuff is awsome.
it's available through auto-body supply stores or Eastwood.

I've seen a few people on the board apply sound deadening to the floor boards before applying the carpet kit. There's various brands you can use out there. Dynomat is probably the most widely known, but it is also probably the most expensive. From what I've read, the alternatives are all just as good and cost less than half as much for the same amount of deadening material. As an added bonus most sound deadening materials are also thermal insulators, so the heat radiated from the engine and exhaust will be noticeably lower. One person on here lined the interior with 100sq ft of "B-Quiet"...

Get online and go the the POR15Store.com and get a kit with Marine Clean, Metal Ready, and a quart of POR15 in your choice of color. It will come with instructions which will lead you to an indestructable tub finish. I also recommend that you buy a couple of their cheap paint brushes for application and a good pair of gloves to keep it off your hands, or you will be wearing POR15 until your skin wears away in a couple of weeks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

I also got a foil lined insulatin pad via Ebay from some place in Texas that sells it by the roll at a decent price. Applied the padding and the carpet with 3M Interior Trim Adhesive in a spray can for a real neat, cool job.

Good luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
