TR2/3/3A Installation of stator tube in steering column 1957 TR3

I am installing the stator tube into the steering column of my 1957 TR3. The "olive" which is fitted to the lower end of the stator tube at the steering box has a taper on one end. In which direction does the taper of the "olive" fit - towards the steering box or towards the gland nut? Thanks for your help. Chuck

Taper goes towards the box.
