TR2/3/3A Installation - Dash & Dash Capping

Is the dash installed after the dash capping is on or visa versa? I have my dash nicely installed and I got out my (stripped) dash capping and tried the fit. NOW I'm thinking that maybe I have the cart before the horse???????????

I'm in an all stop mode until some kind soul tells me which way to go. I can see that maybe the capping should be on before I put the dash in. Never gave it a thought though, until just now, sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Tinkerman

I think you're doing it right, install the dash first. The capping butts up against the face of the dash rather than going between the dash & body.

Yes, I installed the dash First followed by the capping.

Cheers

YEA! Not a do-over!

Thanks, Dick

Yep, the dash is in. Looks Purdy too.

Congratulations. Big step in getting the dash back in. I'm at the place of installing my newly covered dash with instruments in and trying to test fit before attaching all wires. I can't seem to get the dash to go down far enough to slip under the body because of the steering column. Did you have to lower the column??
Thanks
Charles

I can't tell you for sure because I put the dash in before the steering column, but it seems that the column would make things very difficult. You might be able to get away with disassembling the steering column from the mount behind the dash and wriggling things around a bit. Also undo the steering mount on the engine side of the firewall if you have one there.

Charles it has been awhile but I think that I had to loos3n the steering column to get the dash in.
Good luck, Tinkerman
