Inspection Markings

I took this picture for a recent Healey Marque article on a 16k mi. BT7 showing a crayon marking on the right side door pillar:

Yesterday, I received an email from another BT7 owner with a similar mark:

I'm familiar with bugeye markings behind the dash and on the rear bulkhead, but not any inspection marks on the big Healeys. Anyone know what these were for and when they were applied? Anyone else with similar markings on their Healeys?

Didn't find crayon markings but I did find lots of random stampings. The rear trans mount crossmember had the most, but also had some near the front shock towers for the upper control arm.

Found these on the inside of the rear side seat panels. Made an attempt to duplicate on the new wood I built.

I found hand markings on the backs of my original interior panels in blue.

Some BJ8s have been found with crayon markings on the inside of the driver's door skin and on the fixed part of the transmission/drivershaft tunnel. I know for one car that the number on the tunnel matches the numerical part of the number stamped on the fixed side bracket of the bonnet latch, left bonnet hinge, and boot lid prop rod bracket. Probably to make sure those parts went on the body they belonged to.
