TR2/3/3A Indentations around door handles

What's the general experience about fixing the indentations around a 3A's door handles? I recall a handy suggestion to stiffen the area from behind with fiberglass, but I've got to get them flat first...
I thought I'd lay it flat on my bench and pound it w my shrink hammer.

As stamped the door skin had an outward "coining" to provide the base for the door handle
(new for 58!!!). The door handle ,if hit, will push in the skin and create a shallow in the panel.
Start with a piece of soft pine,and shape it down until it fits into the coining(door handle removed)
You will the use this buck to drive out or push the panel so that the handle is back where it needs to be.
Carefully inspect the inner supports for old damages.Only with the handle in its place will the metal
work smoothly with a minimum of filler. Take your time ,look for streched metal (oilcanning) before you
strat shrinking metal.....

Google "painless dent repair" or maybe just PDR. The YouTube videos are not faked. They really do this.

If you have a nice paint-job find someone who can do this stuff.

Otherwise my favorite tool for removing dents from panels, is a hammer with a hard-rubber head.
Does not dent or stretch just moves. Will post pics if you are interested.
