Incredible Healey Rebody

Beautiful build! I wonder why he went with cloth on the seats?

Interesting, it looks like they slip over the seat pan easily in the GTO.

Love the body and build quality, would love to put a "real" performance Healey motor under the hood....

Aside certain decisions he's made, I got to say, that is one dude who will have nothing stand in his way in getting what he wants. I wish I had a fraction of his knowledge. Impressive!

Amazing imagination, skill and execution. That DMD block would be sweet. I recall wanting to purchase one when I was doing my restoration, but it required a big, big gulp. Dougie, can you still purchase one of these? I assume (always dangerous) that Jeff Jonk still uses one in his car?

Hi Lin -

Jeff is still running his DMD aluminum block, which is a modified version of the stock Healey casting. There are now aluminum versions made as the original aluminum works block. https://www.davehardwick.co.uk/price-lists/price-list-ah-competition/ah-3000-alloy-block.html

It's on my Christmas list.

PS - Did you get my PM on the carb fitting, I tried to send a pic. Didn't know if it it went through.

Good to know that the alloy block is being produced. I noticed that Dave Hardwick Engineering listed the price for most all of the other components he supplied - but no price for the block. I guess it is like buying fuel for a Ferrari. If you have to ask what the mpg is then you can’t afford the car! While it would be ever so much better in a car, it looks beautiful just sitting on a desk!

I did get your PM - thanks. I sent you a follow up.

Heck of a project with impressive attention to detail. Wonder if anyone has ever modified a Ferrari Testarossa to look like a Healey?

Awesome concept and workmanship on the Testa Rosa copy. I thought I saw a slight flaw in the fit of the left rear fender ventilation, but that didn't diminish my amazement at the design and construction of that car. One immediately thinks all of that effort might have been better done on a frame with more sophisticated suspension carrying a Cooper Climax motor or something exotic, etc., but I'm happy that the owner/builder chose to do it on a Healey.

Yes RD, I too, noticed a couple of flaws like that. Wonder if going back to filling the fiberglass body would be too much of a headache to remedy?
