Hi, generally speaking this can be done . However, if the engine has had an after market rear seal installed you will not be able to remove the rear main bearing cap without removing the Tranny. Similar, complications requiring the removal of a large number of front engine fittings,make engine removal IMOP the more desirable option.--FWIW--KEOKE

Hi Keoke,
I hope everything is good by you.I've done a few of these jobs at work but that's on engines much different than whats in a healey. There is a guy on utube, if you look up "university motors" who says he does this job quite often.Anyway my engine doesn't have that rear main seal and I'm thinking of giving it a try.Oh well , thanks for the response,

I do rod bearing swaps on the 01-02 M Rdstrs all the time, and from a pure access standpoint, the Healey would be absolutely wonderful to work on, with nothing in the way to remove the sump.
Doing your Healey's rod bearings would be very easy to do, and the mains only a bit more trouble. You should be prepared though, in the event you find a crankpin or main journal scored, as that condemns the job to crank out status.
Which would you rather do...
... 02 M Rdstr with the entire front suspension and xmbr dangling...
... or this nice Healey?

Hey Randy,
Thanks for the pictures and the advice. At this point, I wouldn't think I have any spun bearings.It actually runs pretty good and I guess I'm just wanting to get a good look at these bearings to see their condition.I'm sure I will replace atleast the rod bearings.Thanks for your help.
