Tranny drain plug is 11/16 socket. heh.

Miss Agatha up on stands. Radiator, engine, tranny drained. Spedo disconnected, prop shaft out, grounding strap off, tranny mount bolts out. 9 bolts so far.

More to follow, much more but it will all be from the front end now. Best wait a bit till my bud gets back with the lift and hands so I can pull the bonnet, but it is started in any case.

PICS? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Gesh, pics of what, a Bugeye on stands?

Of course you DO have the shifter handle pulled don't you?
Bill

Heh.....I forgot that the second time we pulled out my engine. Couldn't figure out what was holding us up! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Shifter not pulled as yet. hehe, good catch. Was off the other day but put it back for a drive.

Outstanding Jeff.

Chris provided one as well but it is worn, but not too awful bad really. I have no idea how critical this part is to the shifting but having it right has got to help with the alignment.

All the left side of the engine is now clear. Only Carbs, front motor mounts, and clutch line to go along with bonnet.

I expect I have spent maybe 3 hours cleaning up as I go getting rid of waste and putting tools away etc, etc.

Another 30 min and I will be ready for the hoist.

Think I will take my bolts to ACE and get some preaty stainless ones for those that are not. Also note a bit of cleaning is in order down in there where the exhaust blackend up a bit with soot when I was testing without an exhaust pipe, that's a no no. Good thing is it cleans right off.

The easy part of all this is that everything is really clean, just rinced hands off is all and there are no rusted bolts etc, etc I had kind of forgotton that. It all comes apart so easy.

Count: 9 hose clamps
24 bolts and nuts so far

Think there will be 2 more clamps on fuel line, and 5 brass nuts on manifolds, 4 bolts on air cleaners, 2 fastners on clutch and throttle, and a clutch line.

SO 11 hose clamps
35 bolts, nuts or a combition there of.

Course if you had a professional lift with an engine tilter you could save 7 bolts and you could prob save a few hose clamps but I took them all off.

Not sure who cares about the count but is intresting to have a feel for the size of the job and the time involve when doing it slowly by your self.

Jack, why pull the carbs and exhaust manifold? They're not in the way of anything on a Bugeye with the bonnet off.
Don't forget the starter cable!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
Jeff

Don't want to take the chance of damageing the carbs after all I went through.
