In car steering box adjustment

Hi guys

We are talking about a right hand drive car here, and I should think that it may be worse on a left hand drive.

I was recently asked how does a person get at the steering box adjustment ( in the car ) on the top of a BJ8 box, I thought that it would be relatively simple as I have the early ( flat topped ) box on my converted (left to right ) BJ7 so it is with two spanners but when I looked at the round top of the BJ8 I must confess that I was bit stumped, as the peg adjustment is carried out with a screwdriver once the locking nut has been slackened.

Clearly you have to remove the air duct and I should think use a stumpy screw driver but beyond that ---?

As I recall, once the locknut's been slackened, the screw turns easily with fingers or a coin in the slot. The idea is for it be set to just touch at either lock, as the center wears more. If you set it in the center, make sure the steering doesn't bind when off-center.
