I'm trying to do the right thing here

Good grief! They are sure making it hard to do the right thing! I returned the second grinder, making it VERY clear before I returned it (and even including a note in the box) that I DID NOT NEED A REFUND! So, they got the return and what do they do:

SIGH!!
That’s what happens when companies rely on computers (AI?) to process orders and returns.
When I bought the interior for my Triumph the company in the UK made the door panels for the wrong year. When I called they said to keep them and they would send me the correct ones.
I put the wrong ones on eBay and donated the money from the sale.

With large corporations, I don't even try anymore if I can't get a hold of a person within the firts communication. Almost all of their systems are automated, and when/if you get ahold of a real live person they will almost invariably tell you to keep what has already been shipped.

There's a road I driven on many times that has a
street light that is always on.Seems it's been that way
for months & months.
It's bothered me for some time,so about a month
or two ago I stopped & wrote down the address of the
house that's in front of,& the pole number.
Got home to call the power company to report it.
Couldn't get a hold of an actual person,so went on my
computer to find out who to contact.Kept hitting dead ends,
until (I thought) I found the link to report it,& put in the info.
Last time I drove by (a few days ago) the light's still on.

Doug - you're lucky you found the link!

If I struggle to jump through all the hoops and give up on reaching a person using phone, I then look for a "help" page.

The help page is a chatbot which just uses its algorithms to point me to other web pages.

Finally find a "speak to a customer service agent" link and ... wait for it ...

The page gives me a 404 Not Found error.

yeesh

Well, today I got a refund on my credit card for the Makita 7" Grinder I returned. A refund I asked them very clearly NOT to give me because I was returning a second grinder they accidentally sent me. I even put a note inside the package when I mailed it back. Good grief!

Basil: You should keep ordering and returning until you make a Million dollars. Then you can start doing seminars on how to make a Million dollars.

They really on keep us around for one reason, watch the second episode of "Love, Death and Robots" to see what happens if we give them what they need....
