I found this site. Of course no Midgets but what else is new.
Anyways, Midgets are 4 X 4" right.
4" = 101.6 mm
This list shows a bunch of cars at 4 x 100 mm
Chevette 13 x 5
Audi 80/ 90 Quattro 13x 5.5
BMW 320/ 323
Dodge Aries 13x 5.5
Colt 13x 4.5
Ford Aspire 13x 4.5
Escort 13x 5.5
Accord 13x5
Civic 13x 5
etc. etc.
will any of thse fit?
If not can someone help me understand why? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Re: I'm sure we've discussed this before but... ri
All will work as long as they are from REAR wheel drive cars.
Honda wheels fit but the offset is way wrong.
BMWs and Chevy bolt right on. Others may need minor mods.
Re: I'm sure we've discussed this before but... ri
A 4 on 4" with 3/8" studs compared to a 4 on 100mm with 12mm studs is a difference of 1/16" but the 3/8" studs fall withing the 12mm hole in the wheel. The studs will be bent inward; your call if this is acceptable. I tried 14" sunflower wheels off a NA Miata and found that the center hole was too small.
Chevy Vega (late '70's early '80's) wheels a 4 on 4" but have 1/2" stud holes so washers are needed under the lug nuts.
Re: I'm sure we've discussed this before but... ri
But remember, these rims must be centered by the studs(as apposed to the center of the wheel). I do not like the idea of cheating a few mm. Personal preference though.
You will also find that the Chevy Vega wheels as with the others will not fit tight to the front Disc due to the size of the axle (the hole in the center of the wheel). In order to make these wheels work properly you have to use spacers and larger studs. Due to the Spacers the studs would need to be longer than stock. I do know that the Honda wheels have a smaller center than the Vega. I havn't checked any of the others however most of the late model cars are not going to have the large center due to the safety changes to put more metal between the center and the stud openings. If anyone has additional information let us know. I personnally would not mind finding a size up wheel with a low profile tire. Partly because I can't hang the corners as fast as the wifes Jaguar. She proved that this morning. She left me like I had stalled. HA
