I'm SO glad this doesn't happen here

This MGB was discussed somewhere else:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MG-MGB-E-...5fCarsQ5fTrucks

And me being me, couldn't resist posting this comment, said very much tongue in cheek:

"If I wasn't courteous and respectful of the opinions of others, I'd point out that while 7,111 original miles is amazing, it's STILL an RB car - but I am, so I won't! "

fully anticipating and predicting the very next response:

"You should post 35 pictures of your CB and we'll all compare which car is nicer. I can't speak for anyone else but I'll try to be very respectful too."

I know this type of response would not happen here - for the most part.

Thank you members of the BCF for having the ability to recognize humor and realizing that life is NOT to be taken 100% seriously 100% of the time. That is one of the qualities that makes THIS Forum particularly enjoyable!

:thankyousign:

We had a 1980 LE MGB at the shop I worked at with 600 miles on it. It was immaculate! It had never been registered. It was bought new by a collector, and tucked away as an investment.
All that said, it just didn't appeal to me. I never cared much for the LEs. Not that I wouldn't own one for the right price. I'd take it over a Corolla any day. hehehehe *gigglesnort*

I actually (gasp!) talked to a Rubber Bumper owner-
it was in Reno, late at night, with no witnesses.

That's got one of them there super-rare "unspecified cylinder" engines.
And, what's up with the boot lid clearance on the left side?
AHA!
Look down in the photos for the one with the boot open, you'll see the inner bracing buckled....some moron tried to close it without releasing it.

At LEAST a full case of armorall...

And since we are spotting flaws... The front badge should have a black background, not red. On a 1980 car, underneath the wheelarches should be body colour, not undersealed... Someone cleaned the yellow wax crayon markings from the factory on the slam panel under the hood.

I'm thinking 107K and a resto, or somebody burned out a Makita.....

Peter,
On one of the other forums, people can leave comments on classifieds if they want. I have my Jaguar XK 120 replica KIT advertised there, as I do here. Well some one left a ripping bad critique of my car, without seeing it in any form other than the few photos I have posted on the ad. This guy thought it was his duty to save the world from my car, citing low build quality etc., all without ever seeing the car. It's one thing if someone is trying to sell a pig in a poke or covering up some sort of defect, but in the case of the RB MGB and my Jaguar, we are just trying to transact a sale. I didn't read his ad, but did he make some claims that were untrue or deceptive? I didn't see your comment posted on the ad, was it supposed to be? What did you intend by sending a comment in the first place. If I had the car he's selling I would be better off with it than without it. No that I would ever spend 15K on an RB MGB. What is he, nuts?

I suppose when one shows up like the one in question, and for 7K miles, it should have had all the bits as delivered. The chalk/crayon markings, somebody detailed it who was clueless.
Bets are the guy who owned it since new didn't kink the boot lid.
At 7K miles, should have had the original tyres, original air in said tyres, should have been a non-driving, saved example of an as-delivered product. Heck, the original battery should have been included for the originality part (not installed, and empty).

To have that price, the issues mentioned, and all that armor-all, better to have ignored the 7K miles in the ad.
