I'm in Trouble Now

I have been reading the posts about being nice and freindly, etc. I met the owner of the local "Auto Recycling Yard" on my bookmobile route last Tuesday. He mentioned he had computer problems at his house and at the yard. I told him I would give him a hand as I use to take care of them under a previous owner. He was astonished that someone know of his computers (very old--not Y2K compatable). He, also, mentioned he hauld ina MGB from his cousin and I could look at it if I wished. You guessed it--for helping him Iam being given a RB MGB. No radiator and someone tried to do some dash work, body is straight and no rust. The engine is rebuilt (?) and the top and tonto(sp) cover are there and in good shape--so is the interior. Red in color. He then said I could have the other two MGs in the back--one unknown and one a RB Midget. The Trouble you ask--my wife doesn't know yet and I can't figure out how to tell her. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

"But, sweetheart, if I don't adopt them, he'ss kill 'em! And after I decide which one I like, I can hep pay for it by selling parts off the other two."

hehehehehe.....good save though!

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gifIf we don't here from you for a while, we'll know that you don't have a computer in the dog house. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif PJ

Wife will be excited. Maybe she can help turn wrenches. I ask my wife out into the garage when I need an extra hand. After all she will get to drive it too.

SCORE! It really does pay to be helpful. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

"Look what followed me home....I can keep 'em, right?!"

Free is free! If you actually paid anything, that's okay. Lie. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Daughter and son are already arguing over the Midget. This is going to be interesting.

I really miss the days when neat stuff was even available in a wrecking yard. Now even if you do find something the guys think that it is made of gold and the price is so high that it isn't fun anymore.

Back in the olden days there was a junk yard of sorts, no fence mind you, just a shotgun across a pair of knees, between Greensboro and High Point run by a guy named Greasy Jean. Jean was a huge fellow with greasy striped overalls that had a pistol in one pocket and a truly wondrous roll of cash in the other. We were all into building street rods back then and I can remember wandering through the woods and finding cars and parts that could be bought for a song, as long as the song included the word "cash" of course. Small trees growing up through the engine compartments of
pre-war, that's WWII, Chevies and Dodges and Packards. Life was good back then.

I don't care what you believe in, whether you are Christian, Jew or Hindu, I KNOW that Karma is a tangible and wonderful thing. Being a nice guy pays off, especially when you are being nice without a thought of compensation.

On second thought it might pay you though to be nice the next time to someone who runs a paint and body shop. LOL

Do you have a really big ribbon and bow? Also a nice gift card to Victoria's Secret, not Victoria British, helps.

Or maybe Lane Bryant if your wife is "volumptuous" - hehehehehhe. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My daughter has agreed to help with the "transition". I'm going to solidify the deal on Monday and look at the other two MGs. If I can sneak the digital out I'll take pictures.

Maybe if you ask real nice he will store the parts cars for you?

NO NO. People are already wanting parts (?). My neighbor's son bought a Magnetta and needs help on it soooo guess what my fee is going to be(hint: storage). He already hinted he would let me store on another occation. He has a sprite I need to help (head problem). Lining up the help so Herself can't complain. Dinner at the Broiler Steak house aught to seal the deal. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif
