Congrats! Looks like two happy people in that car ...

You have been famous in our minds for years Ben

And to think that 15 minutes of driving fame has produced endless hours of on-line fame!

Hehehehe... The lady with me is actually a professor from Cornell University. She was there with a bunch of students who brought their engineering class project. A crazy motorcycle engine mini formula car that went like greased lightning.
I did not have a navigator for the laps of the old course, so she rode along. We had a lot of fun waving at folks.
And yes, my wife knows all about it.

Very nice! With the flat primer paint and red wheels, you've sort of gone for the old-school rat-rod look.

You were parading on the old, original "street circuit"....right?

By the way, the Toyota 2000GT on that same page (on the lower right) is owned by my friend, Bob Tkacik.

I'm sure the "crazy motorcycle engine mini formula car" is the Cornell Formula SAE car.
They have a pretty good Formula SAE team.
We have an SAE chapter here at my college, (I'm the faculty mentor for the group) but the cost of building one of those is more than our school could afford.
We've helped build parts for the Rutgers Formula SAE team and my niece was the lead mechanical engineering student on the TCNJ (The College of NJ) team. They are cool!

What about the mini Baja?

Nial is right. It was the SAE car. I couldn't remember the name of the competition they built it for.. We were running the "old course" through the streets, not on the track, but, this spring I'm taking the VW to the" Type 3 Invasion" being held this year up near Rochester. They are doing a track day at Watkins, and I hope to join in on that one.

Ben, Welcome to the club! I got our Cortina estate featured in the December issue ofHemmings Sports & Exotic Car (page 17). I also got a second place tropy at the Dixon,CA British car meet,so now I can bragthat I have an "Award winning show car, that's World famous",even though it means nothing. - Doug

Mmmmmmm, I love the smell of #3 cylinder in the spring...

Hey, I got an idea, tow it there with the van. :highly_amused:

The type 3 did win an award at the Glenkhana. "Most Unexpected". Similar to the "Brown Bag Award" I got at the local car show this summer from my friends in the Sports Car club.
I always seem to own cars that get awards like that...... Take for instance my clapped out TR4A that won "Most Loved" AKA biggest pile of turd! hahahahahaha! But I have all kinds of fun with my beaters. I think I'll keep it that way.

Nice looking car, the driver too, a better look for the car then the people who lower the VW's these days...

Ben,

I can't remember if I told you,after we were there,that I drove the
"old" course in the rent a car.I was so impressed, that I drove my Wife
around for another lap.
I couldn't imagine doing it in a TC.
