Illinois' Governor Quinn stopped by my pharmacy...

Offline
.........to promote his budget proposal.

************************************
This one literally dropped into my lap on Monday morning. This news conference was scheduled to be held at a local clinic (where I used to be employed)...but the clinic cancelled at the last minute (for reasons I won't go into..let's just say that I think they shot themselves in the foot.) I called the Governor's office to find out where the event would be held...and ended up convincing both the Governor's office and my corporate office that my pharmacy would be the ideal spot. This all happened over the course of about 30 minutes.

The Governor's office was happy; my corporate administration was happy....and it was rather pleasing to be one-up on my former employer. I think I blindsided them with this one.

Here's a write-up and a video link of my short interview....and as a bonus, you can see me counting by fives!

Governor Pat Quinn visits a Savoy grocery store pharmacy on a three-stop appearance tour through Illinois.

Governor Pat Quinn wants to be able to pay pharmacies, school, and others funded by the state budget on time through his plan for the state government to pay its bills every 30 days. At his stop, he was joined by pharmacists and educators who say they are regularly paid months late.

Quinn has two other stops scheduled along with the Savoy stop, in Marion and Belleville, and wants to sell his budget proposal. Illinois currently faces an $11.5 billion budget deficit. Quinn's plan proposes an income tax increase.

Way to go! And just down the road from my old alma mater too!

Good work, Rick!

For democracy to exist requires citizen participation. You just did that in spades!

Cheers to you! :yesnod:

Was that BCF that you had up on the computer screen?

LOL!

No...the company frowns upon use of their network for non-pharmacy related searches.

Would have been good exposure though, eh?!

A Pharmacy provides necessities for our personal well being. So do our LBCs and the BCF; sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

I know that a lot of pharmacies have benefited from the headaches that LBC's give their owners...so I guess they help our well being in a round about way.
