While driving back from the dump the sun roof on my 87 Nissan pickup popped open. The hinges had rusted through. So upon inspection I determined I needed two hinges and two wind deflectors.

Ca-Chung, $50 each. I walked out of the dealership parts department $200 lighter.

Re: I'll never complain about TR6 parts cost again

VWs suck. $1600 for a timing belt change. Glad I said no. Got it for $400 labor plus parts ($320).

$287 for a new oil pan and $41 for new "liquid gasket."

Online, same oil pan was $85. And liquid gasket... it was RTV.

Now I don't touch the thing without searching online first.

Re: I'll never complain about TR6 parts cost again

I paid $650 to get a new washer bottle installed after I put a branch through it. No Joke.

Too many trees round here...

Re: I'll never complain about TR6 parts cost again

You guys don't even begin to know what expensive parts are (for basically common cars) After taxes / importer theft etc the local dealer wanted ~$180 for a DISTRIBUTOR CAP for my '98 Toyota Starlet. Another $50 for the Rotor. There is NOTHING special about these parts (identical to previous year US model Tercel) I ordered them for under $30 from either Parts place or Rock auto. Same thing with a broken door handle. Local $100/plastic handle, Ebay "taiwanese reproduction" $10 looks better than the original.

Well, I was born in Yorkshire, too ... so that makes three of us! All we need is another BCF Yorkshireman to make our own quartet /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
