If you're ever in a situation...

... where your wife has given you a whole day to work on your car as a father's day present, and you're really trying to make some serious progress cause you don't know when you are going to have as much time to work on your car again, and you all of a sudden break your starter solenoid because you stupidly tried to remove a nut without backing up the lock not inspite of just having read a thread warning of this very mistake...

you can use a solenoid from an old Ford in pinch. Readily available at most parts houses for about $10. Only requires drilling one hole. And don't look half bad niether.

Part number and pics forthcoming.

My better half did the same for me this weekend on Saturday morning. Put 75 miles on Bugsy Saturday morning. Managed to pull a steering column, tach, speedo, and correct gas gauge from a '68 that John Kuzman was scrapping out. Had a blast getting rust and dirt in my face hanging upside down taking a dash apart. Maybe she really does understand me after all. I told her the best Father's Day present was the opportunity to get some time to work on Bugsy.

Now I still managed to change out a leaky toilet and cut the grass but I was able to do my LBC fun stuff first. Thanks honey!

yes I have been there I know the Ford solenoid you speak of

I thought the Father's day present would be a new carb or something.
Shouldn't you also have your wife help with the project on a regular basis?

My car is fuel injected.

She did give me an Autoist gift certificate for my birthday. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I got new tires. There's always a list of wants when you own LBCs.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does things like this....

Buster Brown delivered a set of APT lifters today. CF-04 to Rathole...

If she gave you the whole day to work on the car, and you ended up breaking something then surely it's her fault...
