Right about the numbers, copied them wrong. I guess the real question is what is the thread size. I need something for my alloy rad that has the same fittings as the original Tr3 and was going to go with the more modern unit. I can't seem to find anything in alluminum.
Whats better/worse. Brass and allum or steel/alum?

I think you'll find the threaded portion of the later style is also brass... i.e. just the 'knob' and possibly some of the innards are steel.
You might have some teflon dope or tape on the threads so I don't think there will be a problem reaction there.
Just out of curiosity -- does the aluminum radiator have any special coolant needs? I know some aluminum blocks are specified to use phosphate-free coolant (e.g. Sierra et al).

Not that I'm aware. I change the coolant yearly on my old cars so shouldn't be an issue. The 51 year old ally thermostat housing looks fine, as you know I just got to check the insides of that.
I bought it from TRF and it's a nice unit, The original rad had been recored and repaired but just kept springing leaks so I got tired of the minor issues.

Merry Christmas all, waiting for the guests to arrive and better do something or I'll eat all of the snacks put out....
Thinking about it I looked around and found the TR4a drain on one of my (3) TR3 radiators, I'd forgotten about that one as I've never used the rad.
It does fit, obviously, and is now in my ally rad. I did use the thread seal liberally on the threads so we'll see how it holds up.
