So tonight I headed downtown to an event and drove down, should have taken transit!
Was a little late leaving the house (my fault there) and by the time I got there a street meter was impossible to find so I headed over to a parkade (parking garage) that I've often used
It used to be quite simple...
1) As you drive in grab a ticket from the machine
2) Park and head upstairs, at which point you could pay at any point before you leave at the end of the evening, and there were even parking attendants behind a window, standard $5 nightly charge, just slide them a $5 bill and be on your way quickly...
Tonight you ask?
Well they've changed it up now
1) No ticket to grab on the way in, just take note of the parking zone for the particular parkade
2) Fine so far... I guess... But you have to pay before you leave the building and only at a machine, no more parking attendants behind a window to speed up the process... I arrived upstairs to long lineups to pay for parking - and I was already quite late... It took me ages to get through and finally pay, and it was a royal pain in the butt... I know I'm doing my best to not park there again, it used to be such a simple process now they've made it way more complex than it needs to be... :madder: And the local parking authority probably thought it was streamlining the process, hardly...

And streamlining isn't always beneficial to the folks on the street, just venting after a frustrating night and just for the record I have serious reservations about the new parking system in this particular parkade, I just hope it's not the future model for other ones...
