Both the 4 and 6 center dash supports are shabby. New ones are pretty dram pricey from the big 3. Anyone have luck with alternative vendors or restoring them at home?

Thanks!

Re: Ideas on restoring the TR4/6 center dash suppo

The dash support in my car was bare aluminum when I got it. I didn't even know it should have been covered! Anyway, I painted it black and it looked OK. Maybe try stripping off the covering, and painting with wrinkle paint (or even better, wrinkle powder coat)?

If you are willing is expend the elbow grease,
using progresively finer wet grit paper will
produce a decent surface on the bare aluminum
for painting or powder coating.

I powder coated mine gun barrel black and I think
Julian used a "crackle" finish. Both styles look
pretty good and are a whole bunch less $$ costly
than the replacement piece of questionable quality.

Thanks Dale.

Anyone else have pictures of their powder coated or painted center console?

How does the wrinkle coat look?

I recovered mine with a cover from Moss. After you strip off the old and clean down to the aluminum, the new cover is trial fit then glued on. Looks factory new and matches the dash pads.

Dale I see the BCF cards in your holder BUT are the others P.R. Happy Hour "Drinkie Winkie" coupons?
