I know that a lot of folks are experiencing some unpleasant weather at the moment. We're in the opposite situation - it's been beautiful here. 77 deg today and 80's in the forecast for the next two days. (50's for Friday, though...)

Enough ice finally melted to allow us to get out on the stream again. We put the kayaks back in on Sunday and went "ice breaking".

It has been beautiful here in VT as well. Temperature records falling by the way side by 15°-20ºF. Bad thing is the syrup season is seriously screwed. We generally are going top speed this time of year, and usually produce about 50+ gallons of syrup. Not so good this year. Really bad in fact.

We've had crazy nice weather here for the past 2 weeks. We're usually still shoveling snow right now, but it's been over 70 for a week, and predicted to top 80 tomorrow. Trees are all beginning to bud, grass is starting to grow, flowers are starting to come out. Very early spring this year.

Normally, we get a few weeks of ice fishing at our lake house (in Cranberry Lake, NJ).
There was never a time this Winter when the ice was even safe enough to walk on.
Forsythia is in full bloom here and we have plenty of Crocuses
and other early flowers. Plenty of early boaters already on our lake.

Are you having your "mud season" yet?

Our Forsythia exploded in mid January. For the last couple weeks the oak tree pollen has been remarkable, the Alfa has a thicker-than-usual green patina just now.

Yes - a very easy winter for sure. Mud season seems like it'll last only a week or less. Around here it's caused by thawing ground sitting on top of frozen ground. It appears that we don't have much of a frozen layer under there so it's draining nicely.

As Doc said - <span style="font-style: italic">wicked good</span>.

(Except the poor sap year - lots of trees tapped here but not much hope I hear.)
