front yard. I had to lay down outside and wait for Kelly to come home cause I looked myself out. I layed there looking up at the sky. Haven't done that in years. I thought about the Indians and how cool it would be to have a teepee (tipi, TP, whatever) on our property. So now I gotta find be some buffalo hyde or a big ole canvas tarp.

Thought he was gonna TP his yard.
Funny thing is, once I saw who the poster was, that idea didn't surprise me.

Wait a minute, Don..he's from Mississippi.....do they know about TP?
SMACK!

All I need is new poles. I have an 18' Nomadic Teepee, but all my poles have rotted out. It takes 18 poles, 25' long and about 3" at the base. I'm hoping to get up to my cousins land this winter and find some good pine trees. and I need to make mounting brackets for the "nose rack" on the front bumper of my truck to be able to carry them home.
Teepees are, in my opinion, the greatest tent ever. I love camping in one. You can usually see a few stars through the smoke flap hole after the fire has died down.
Here's a pic of the living history camp I attend every year. my tent is actually the one on the far left. It's an 8'x12' wall tent with an 8'x10' fly. The Teepee in the pic belongs to a lifelong friend of mine, and is very similar to the one I have.

Oh, I thought he needed it for,

you know,

that moment when a man's gotta be alone

Ben, I knew I liked ya for a reason. Did you make it or buy it?

Any way to use PVC pipe?. yeah, I know, it kills it a bit but you could paint it to look like wood.

What you really need is Cypress or Cedar. Cypress is the bomb. Sore 'em underwater and they won't rot ( in your lifetime.)

why would you want to set up a teepee underwater? (water bed?)

In case of rain.

Too bad you live so far away Ben. I could get you as many poles as you needed.

and I thought this was going to be a thread about

150px-Cornholio.jpg

Stewart, that exactly the first thing that crossed my mind....hehehe
Kellysguy, I don't think you could use PVC. it flexes too much and at 20 feet long ,in the diameter you'd want, would not be very strong.. I've seen metal frames made for them before but there's nothing like the look you get from natural wood poles.
Lodgepole pine is the preferred wood. Found primarily in the West. We had a set made from Balsam Fir. very strong, and light, also lasted many years.that can be found on the East coast. The local red pine is ok, but is heavier, and doesn't tend to last all that long.
My tent is a bought one. the company name is Nomadics. here's Thier site
Interesting pic. nice Teepee except the paint job.(I'd kill someone if they did that to mine!)

Ben, that's part of the piece. It symbolizes how uncivilized civilization is, both past and present.

The an ancient cultural dwelling downtown in front of one of the instruments used to wipe that culture out. Despite all of our "progress", we're still a violent society; the cleck staring down the barrel of a gun. ( at least that's what I see)

I love it.

Huh... I always fancied myself a bit of an enlightened artist, but I never would have gotten that out of that setup. Of course I wasn't looking for anything that deep.
You have an artists eye my friend. I'm gonna go hang out in a coffee shop for a while now.

It's a bit of a stretch, needs to be turned more.

Ben, it's easy for me to see because that's the story of my my life. Almost everythat's ever happened to me is dripping with symbolisim. I'd write a book but no one would believe it's true.

PM sent.

Talked with my buddy today. He digs outdoor stuff. He and his father were jusrt discussing buying a tp last week. Sure hope they pull the trigger.

Ya know, I have a bunch of old sails. I wonder if I can make one outta those.
