Salad is a better defense. The test breaks alcohol into acetic acid and tests for that. Vinegar is acetic acid, which is made from fermented alcohol. At least that's waht the test usedc 15 years ago. I don't know if it changed or not.
Mouthwash might give a false positive as well.
