I think I've found my starter car....

Minor problem...he just forgot the decimal point between the fifteen and the zeros!

What a deal. You wouldn't have to cut any metal away to lighten it for racing. Think of the savings in labor costs!

You are all being too harsh. I happen to know that a 1958 Spitfire is indeed a very rare beast considering the first Spitfire prototype was previously considered to be born in 1960..

Weird.

That's in a junkyard in Thomaston, Connecticut.

I pulled the trans in my 1500 Spridget last Thurs and found it was so bad inside it would cost a fortune to rebuild.
So I decide to look for a decent used trans.
I finally found a 1500 Spitfire trans in a junkyard in Thomaston, Connecticut on Saturday and drove up there, 125 miles right away to get it (The 1500 Midget and Spitfire trans is identical).

It's in my car now, all back together (ready for Watkins Glen in 2 weeks).

The only part that might be of any value on that heap of rust may be the starter.

Aren't we glad he isn't one to part out such a fine example? Did you catch the sarcasm in the one question that had been posed? It is an early one though, judging from the plain dash and central instruments. If he meant 68 would it still have the rubber floormats and multi-plate clutch?

1958 Spitfire? He has the original Michelotti prototype! rusting away in his junkyard, Wow! What a find. (Just joking)

$1500? No, I dont think so. I doubt there's enough left that's salvageable of that car that would fill a glad sandwich bag.

Come on guys. With a little elbow grease, that will totally buff out!

C'mon you guys! The obvious usefulness of this fine, ummm, thing is evident from the pictures... It's a flower pot!

The $1500 should be what he'll pay you to haul it off his lot. (And the reserve is still not met! The nerve!)

At least there is no Bondo on it.

Well, he's got bidders on one of his treasures so far. That equally rotted Mercedes 190 is up over $4k, with the reserve still not met.

I think the guy is smart. It look's like he is just trying to get some pretty cheap advertising.Look how many times he has his phone number listed and tells you to call. Wonder if he might have a good MK2 emblom laying around.
Can anybody reconize the car on either side of the spitty?
Tom
