I think I made a typical mistake...

Hey all, long time no see!

Well, some of you may remember that I did a Weber DGV swap on my 1500, and finally got it running really well by the end of last summer.

Unfortunately, I was wandering through the endless internet, and saw a set (pair) of brand new DCOE 40s advertised, all set up for a 1500. Intake, linkage, throttle, both carbs brand new, jetted, the whole shebang.

So I send the guy a too-low offer, hoping he'll tell me to go whistle, and I'll be able to say "Well, I tried!"

So now he's thinking about it, we're negotiating shipping, and I'm getting ready to put the DGV up on eBay. Gah! :p

The nice thing is, it *should* be plug-and-play, since it comes with all the linkages, already jetted for a 1500, and I've already got a low-pressure Carter pump. Ah well, what the heck. I haven't bought anything dumb for the car since she went into storage.

My only other consideration is, if I decide I hate them on the Midget, I can always put them on my 16v VW, an engine that makes nice power with dual side-draughts.

Is the 16v going into Gertie? If so, all I can say is "coooooool..."

Yup, it's now confirmed they're mine... so, twin Weber DCOE 40s for Milo this spring. Hmm, that should make a heck of a noise!

Now that's making me think of all the other little things I'll need to do before I can really enjoy the extra power.

- Correct the toe-in.
- Grease the front suspension.
- Send the front lever-arm dampers to Peter C.
- Put the front sway bar back on.

Maybe I'll box up the shocks for Peter tomorrow... at least that would be one thing done!

Do yourself a favor, in spite of being told it's all jetted and set up four 28mm venturis would be an awful lot of air for only a 1500 cc engine.

So unless your compression is raised, high light cam, free flow exhaust, I think you may have to do a little rejetting, and possibly venturi changing on those 40's... Teglerizer has a site that has a lot of good Weber info...
