I think I figured it out...nope, that's not it.

I have a really rough idle, won't rev over 1500 RPM, sputters and spits. It's been sitting a while since I decided to put the new starter on back in early July.

I put a fuel pressure gauge under the hood (looks cool, BTW), crank the starter, and get about 50psi on the gauge. Then I got to thinking about another thread I was reading.

Take a look at this picture and tell me what you think the problem is (other than the dangling fuel pump wires)... I'm such a knuckle head...

Yah, I know - repairing this bracket was next on the list after the starter. But, I got so disgusted with the running, I quit with it for a while. Let's hope when I get this mount back in place, and replace what I hope is a seriously clogged fuel filter, she'll run like a top again. It's been hanging there for at least 4 weeks.

Ok...here's a long shot. Check the connections on the FI's temp sensor. My connector broke, and with a total broken connection, the injectors were just dumping fuel and the car would not even fire. If you have a bad connection, it may be holding the injectors open too long, and causing a flooding condition.

PS. The bracket definitely needed fixing though. Good thing you hadn't bottomed out on something!

well. I found it.

I pulled the dizzy out , sent it to Jeff Schlemmer at Advance Distributors (https://advanceddistributors.com/).

Got it back in the mail today, and wow. It's never run this good before!

If you ever have doubts about your distributor, or if it's really old and it is constantly nagging you to adjust it, bite the bullet and send it to Jeff.

I decided to send it to him because of the praises he gets on another MG forum.

Wow...nods head...wow.
