I saw an Alpine for sale

I was driving home from a short trip on Sunday evening and spotted a 1960 Sunbeam Alpine for sale. It is red with a hard top and looks to be in very good condition. I have a triumph and dont know much about these very handsome cars. It has a bit of a Michelotti style I think, so naturally I liked it. I dont have any information but I can give any interested sunbeam fans a phone number if they PM me. Just out of curiosity what would an Alpine in very good condition be worth? This was not a trailer queen but looked very good up close. It had medalions on the front flanks that identified it as Rootes II. What does this mean? Thanks.
 
Rootes Group. They are to Sunbeam what BMC is to MG. Rover acquired them shortly after the Alpine was in production IIRC. Someone else here will have a MUCH better knowledge of the history, certes.

I'm impressed the livery is still intact. Must be a really complete car, hardtop and all. Neat.

No they didn't, BL/Rover had nothing to do with Rootes. Rootes was slowly purchased by Chrysler (partial ownership in the 60's then they became majority in 67 IIRC) and was renamed Chrysler UK, then merged with Simca to become Chrysler Europe (1970s) and then sold to Peugeot (except for the heavy trucks which went to Renault).

Chrysler took control of Rootes in 1964.I think it was from 1965 that Sunbeams had a penstar on the very low part of the front fender just after the wheel opening.This then allowed Tiger owners to take a Ford powered car to a Mopar only car show.IT WAS FUN to be able even today to do this.
