I need some help with an Alfa Romeo....

Last spring our 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider began making a high pitched whine from behind the passenger seat. It goes away when you push the gas, but as soon as you let off the gas it comes back. We figured it was the fuel pump since this is the vicinity that it located. We replaced the fuel pump and lines, but it is still whining. It doesn't seem to be as loud, but it is really irritating. The car runs great, accelerates smoothly etc...just that high pitch. Any ideas?

Tom's "short-cut" to the MAP is right on, Terri. Yank the connector and motor on.

I simply put a pair of DCOE Webers on mine and eliminated a BUNCH of problems.

Funny, I just today went thru a 1750 head, lapped valves and re-shimmed it. This is a pal's Alfa, hasn't run right since he got it. We yanked its head off on Saturday morning. Replaced #1 intake valve and seated the ones in holes one and two. DPO was an mmmm... nevermind.

Ha! Thank You so much Tom and Doc!!!! That's it exactly!

Thank Tom, not me. I came in way late. That Alfa bunch are good, BTW. Their forum is a bit less "polite" than here sometimes but usually helpful.

Joined that place over six years ago but don't post much. This is home.
