I am still doing my frame off. While I was restoring my steering column I decided to put in different (Fancy) U-joints that look very nice and streamlined. In doing so I have changed where the steering column can sit. Can someone measure how far the outer steering column (not the steering shaft) comes through the fire wall into the engine bay? It will have an aluminum end cap on it to signify the end. Also, please note if the measurement is on the top, side or bottom as that will change the distance.

Thank you very much

I can barely see a piece of aluminum sticking out perhaps 1/8".

Thank you very much. I need to weld one side of the u-joint in place and until the column is positioned correctly I don't know where to weld.
