I need a filter housing for the Elan

Well, no not really, I need it for the Cortina. I want to mount a remote filter under the fender, as the open K&N filters make for a VERY loud intake, and after a year of it I am looking for a little more peace and quiet..

I have some housings, but they are all the wrong shape, as the Cortins has very little room to spare. The Lotus Elan one would work very well...

If anybody has a spare steel back/fiberglass front filter housing for Webers ( actually, I can probably modify a Stromberg one to suit..) Please let me know.

I have a spare Elan/Cortina air filter housing: the round, double-snoot one. But no air-box spare. It appears that's what you're looking for, yes?

maybe we can work out a partial trade of sorts for that alfa gearbox adapter plate in your friends garage...

I'll check what I have. I believe I have a "square to spare" (i.e. the square airbox type for the later series cars in the UK that were still using Webers, not the oval round type)

Do you have a pic of it and can you give me the dimensions?

The adapter plate may be a possibility, It's hard to swap somebody elses stuff for something that they don't need though..Ha ha.. I'll give him a call..

My MK 1 Cortina has that type, byt no filter. It has a cold air intake behibd the grill. I want to put a big K&N cone filter on it behind the grill.

Got my housing finally.. I'll try to post a pic. It doesn't have the bracket for the throttle cable, but I deleted that option as I have a bracket already on the carbs.. This is such a nice piece, way better quality than the original Lotus unit, and all fiberglass so light and non rusting. This one cost me $90.00 USD plus $25.00 shipping, and it's brand new.. That was probably a bit of a deal, as I have known the fellow who made it for many years.
