I made it home from the lake of the Ozarks...

Made it home about 1:30 PM today (Monday)...drove 10 hours yesterday and finished up the other 5 today. No incidents, other than a 5 mile or so detour on GA 53 through the north GA mountains due to an overturned semi on the main road.

Garmin says the total round trip for me was 1616.3 miles...a mere jaunt compared to those guys from Washington state.

Would I do it again??? In a heartbeat!

No hesitation here either.
Welcome Bill!

We made it home safely in about 8-1/2 hours. Hit some pretty good rain coming across I-70 in IL. Now it is time to blast off the mud from the undercarriage and wheelwells of the Bugeye that we took to LOTO. We went to the winery Saturday morning with a couple of new found LBC friends and had to travel on a 2 mile stretch of a washed out gravel road.

Miss Agatha and family now in Memphis. Tomorrow will be an American Briliant period cut glass show here. Now there you did not know I collected that stuff. Cats out of the bag.

LoTO was a wonderful experience, so glad I could make it and talk with all you great folks.

Did I hear there will be another in 2011 for the Midget 50th?

...I'm trying to start a rumor in hopes that it will muster support and become reality.

I am home. Its 2:34am EST and I am tired. Took many back roads to Cape Girardeau,MO and crossed the river there. Before crossing the river though my passenger side front brake caliper locked up on the ranger and we had to pull off and cool it down and free it up. This has happened several times to me in the past. I am told from not using it enough. I have replaced both calipers twice and it still does it. The good thing is that I now know how to free them up without removing the wheel. Other than that, good trip home. I got lots of pics and things to say on here. Tomorrow, folks. It was a pleasure, gentlemen.

Glen Byrns posted this on the Spridgets autox list:

"I'm back. Dodging the heat, I left Salt Lake City at 10PM last night
after an early dinner and a few hours sleep. A few hours out of Salt
Lake, a thunderhead laid a massive burst across 80 and stopped all
traffic. (All four or five of us) I didn't have the side curtains up and
took the horozontal blast in the side of the face. It knocked off my hat
andglasses, pushed the car half off the road and blasted the car and I
with sand, brush and rain. After a minute it was gone, but half of
Utah was in my left eye. I had about one and a half eyes for the rest of
the drive. My first stop when I got home a few hours ago was the eye
doctor. Much better now with modern pharmacology.

An hour later, a stab at the dimmer killed the fuse while I was
doing about 70. Pucker time. I found the flashlight by touch, dead.
I found the transmitter for the toy helicopter, stole batteries and
fixed the flashlight by the soft glow of the GPS screen. No spare fuse
of course, but the bit from a multi-driver made a perfect snap-in fit for
a 2000W replacement. After a sniff for melted wiring, I was off again.
Daybreak in the Nevada desert near Winnemucca was beautiful even to one
eye.

Three days, 13 gas stops, 1956 miles with a net average of 37mpg

Its good to be home. I'll have more time to reflet on the incredible
experience of LotO after a LOT of sleep.

I made it home today Tuesday around 6:00 pm.
2 days on the road in a Bugeye with my wife at my side for most of the way.
My daughter did some driving in the evening on Monday.
No problems at all other than I left my gas cap at the last fill up before Loto but I brought along a spare.
Make plans now for 2011. I don't want to hear any excuses.
If you miss it, it's your own fault.

I'm in for 2011. Most certainly!
