Just got in from the friends of the library sale, where for a dollar a piece I snagged two cool books

Post-War British Thoroughbreds

and

The Jaguar Story.

Both in hardcover and reasonably good shape.

We also got three old DIY encyclopedias from Popular Mechanics, With everything from building a cabana to a mower-engined car. Thousands of ways to get myself into tons of trouble.
 
Ah yes. We too have the yearly library book sale. My classic manuver is to go on the last day when I can get a whole bag (or box) of books for $1. I've gotton all kinds of cool stuff. books on trains, how to make old time toys, records, etc....
I love it. Now if I only could find MY out of date DIY set, so I could build a library to house all of em.
 
nice scoop, our library always has a sale on and they just add to it all the time. Have often thought about getting some of those talking books and that would save me from reading books, as I keep getting heck for just reading mags.
 
I thought about a couple of them, I could rip them into the MP3 player and run to Lady Chatterly's Lover, but decided that could create an entirely new level of complications.

AND go the first day to get at the goodies before someone else makes off with them!
 
WOW! As a librarian and treasure of the loscal FOL, I'm impressed. I have used the sale to add to my library and get books for other people. These sales are very important in the times of dwindling cash from our govt officials. Enough political stuff. Love this site and the people that are using it. Look for first editions and non marked up books--they could be valuable.

I try to get books from the used sellers related to Barnes & Noble when I can. Often the books are new anyway; and if I am getting a car repair manual to keep in the garage who cares if it has a few greasy fingerprints?
