husband. I am so blessed. He is quite the handyman. Did all the fitting of the new appliances except for the gas line for the slide-in range. He left that to the professionals. In his exchange for his getting his garagemajal, I got a 14 year renovation of the kitchen. All that's left is a new floor and sink - maybe next month.

Here's some photos:

very nice! congrats and about 2,000,000 husband points I'd wager.

That's a good lookin' kitchen, Judy!

I'm yet to get my kitchen points. Did tile flooring in the entire hovel, right to th' gunwhales as "step one". Then the galley kitchen was changed to a much better use of the space, with a two-seat knee wall/countertop. Cabinets up and down all changed, still have to finish that job... some cabinet doors are curved, so have to be fabricated and the tools are buried in the garage ~someplace~. Recent events here have knocked th' wind outta me sails, kinda back to it with an extension to the garage for a laundry room/sewing room. Walls and roof are up, plumbing yesterday and mebbe today, wiring rough-in first of the week (putting in Cat-5, CATV and alarm wiring as well). Heating/AirCon chase, insulation and drywall next weekend.

It kinda-sorta amazes me at what I used to do... seems like it now takes months to accomplish what took days a decade ago.

I want a nap after just typing what's left to do. :jester:

Can't let my wife see this post.

That is nice. If only my wife will let me hand the pots and pans. Just the opposite here; I'm al for renovating the kitchen and bathroom and she wants to let it be. I aint handy in the house.

judow,BEAUTIFULLL!, nice work, thats the stuff ive been doing for a living for a long time now, i had to do ours 2.5 years ago cuz " the victoria" = my wife.. set our kitchen on fire, shes been telling me it was an accident, aha!, we have virtually the same cabinets as yours, and also the stainless toys.

"I aint handy in the house" might be why she is preferring an as is status. Maybe you aught to invite Anthony to visit for while???

Yes that is a scale also. We are a very eclectic twosome, husband and I, including his restored gas pumps in the living room. In spite of hubby being Polish, left handed and a flyboy, he's quite the accomplished handiman. When we built our log home he did all the stonework, porches, and built several cabinets and kept a close eye on all the construction. I'd like to say I helped but... Moral support and keeping him company is all I did.

I bet you can't guess but I am so very proud of him. And he smiles when he is working. I think if he hadn't have been a pilot he would have been a contractor.

Very nice! You have the same stove that we do (we have all stainless too). Our Summer/Lake house has similar wood walls.....I really like them.

I renovated two of our bathrooms this Winter (just finished).
I could have bought a very nice MGB for what it cost me......but I also got points.

aeronca65t, "a nice mgb", not bad!, in comparison the amount of fire damage my wife caused to our kitchen i could have gotten 5 years of french lessons, half ownership in the eiffel tower, and a bugatti veyron!...

Na, I'm skillful at writing checks. Just don't ask me to balance the checkbook. I colect antique radios and electric fans. I'd do scales too but you never see them here and if you do they are pricey. Collecting fans down here is a VERY practical hobby. I was really glad I had all of 'em after Katrina. Gotta love something that's made to run every day all day and night long.

probably a good idea to list our hobbies here since when we last moved we sold our antique scale and our antique fans for peanuts. Would far rather have sent them south.

What type of floor are you looking at? I've completely redone our kitchen and HATE the floor we put in. I'm tempted to have hardwoods installed since every other room of our house has them.

As we live in a log home we are thinking about slate in the tones of blue and gray. We have so much wood that hardwood floors are out. I really want the tiles butted together as I don't want to see any grout. No firm decisions yet. We will be taking a day off to simply look.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

I love slate! but, check carefully, natural stone is not typically cut accurately enough to butt together - part of its charm.

Lovely kitchen nice warm feeling in your home. I am amazed by the industry and range of talent within this group. This may be seen as heresy by some but old style commercial linoleum is making a comeback here and can fit well with natural materials, sometimes used to great effect with flexible floors that won't hold tile or stone without cracking the grout. I am not aware whether your kitchen is on a slab or not, but I thought I might add my two cents. There are also jute backed offerings such as Marmoleum that are considered "green" by the green crowd. you can find lino in sheet or squares blues, grays, mottled or solid colors. I am fond of the stainless appliances also, isn't it nice to have the coated steel on the sides for your magnets. No doubt you will choose wisely. And yes, Dr.E. I remember when I could build a house with a wormdrive a square and a piece of string in a jiffy. Now we have every tool in the book and you always need another one and it takes forever. [ we don't mention this to the clients.] Any how, thanks for the view, I gotta go mill some red cedar for a dormer lined game room above an 8 car garage filled with Porsches. Can I say Porsche here? Basil? Roby

Isn't that the point? (we always need another one)

course you can - and patio and deck and Lanai I'm sure you would build a lovely porsche on the front of a house.

Thanks for the info. We have crawl space/no cement slab. We are open as to what we decide on. Currently we have linoleum which has served us well but I am wanting to upgrade to some sort of stone. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
