I love my new Tacoma Prerunner!

I bit the bullet and traded in my old Chevy Tahoe for a new, red Toyota Prerunner PU. It has the four cylinder engine with a 5-speed stick. And is fairly loaded with all the bells and whistles. Sorry, GM, after approx. 20 new GM cars and trucks and SUVs, I have gone foreign. In the same vein as the Tacoma, I have owned 2 S10s, a Jimmy, 2 Tahoes, and a few PUs. Mostly GM, some Chrysler. I am very happy with my new purchase, and it gets 30 mpg. Honest.

I love Toyota trucks. IMHO they made the best non-diesel trucks on earth.

Gotta take care of yourself Bill.

Prediction - There will be one or more new REAL American car companies emerge from this mess. They will be made up of some of the brightest and best people in the old bloated companies that are going down in flames. The people that have caused the problems will find themselves on the outside looking in, if they can find the new company locations.

Query.

What is the first digit of your vin?(vehicle identification number).

Reason I ask, is your car/truck may not be Foreign.

If it is a J, then yes, it is foreign. 4 or 5 it was designed, manufactured and built in the usof a.. Toyota has had design studios in the US since the late 70's. They have been building cars/trucks since the 80's...

So don't apologize for getting a "better" car. One thing a lot of the auto manufacturers(I mean GM) forgot is product.

Back in college business courses we learned that the product needs to consist of the "total product". Everything from consumer awareness(ads, commercials) to hardware(the vehicle), to customer satisfaction(warranty and maintenance).

GM started blowing it in the early 80's.

Bought a 81 Olds Cutlass because my then wife wanted it. That car became a major source of friction and financial destruction of that marriage.

There was so much wrong with that vehicle, some simple some more complex(design malfunctions). That in my attempts to get GM to honor the warranty and fix it< while still under warranty> I wrote letters all the way up the chain of comdand, to Bill Smith. All I got back was a letter from their legal team, telling me we s****ed you, what you gonna do about it?

I vowed to never spend another cent on any GM product and to spread the word. IT worked.

My experience with '85 Silverado is similar. Never bought another GM product.
